Ministers comment

With less than 50 days to go before the Copenhagen summit, we hear from British and Spanish Ministers on how they see the way forward over the next few weeks.

Teresa Ribera - Spain

In Spain, the fight to combat climate change has become a central theme of the government's policy.

Shortly before leaving for the Major Economies Forum in London, Spanish Secretary of State for Climate Change, Teresa Ribera, talked to the British Embassy in Madrid about the need to build on the positive developments we have seen recently in order to achieve a consensus at Copenhagen.

Joan Ruddock - UK

Joan Ruddock, Parliamentary Under Secretary in the newly formed Department of Energy and Climate Change, was in Madrid for a meeting with her Spanish counterpart.

During her visit, Joan also met with Spanish Minister for Europe, Diego Lopez Garrido, and chaired a round table discussion on the opportunities of a low carbon economy with over 20 business leaders.

Taking a break from her meetings, Joan found time to talk about where she sees believes we should focus in the weeks leading up to Copenhagen.
