Climate change conference 'Barcelona Climate Change Talks 2009'
Next week will see the beginning of the final session of the negotiations under the 'Barcelona Climate Change Talks 2009' before the Copenhagen Summit on Climate Change scheduled for December. The meeting organised by the UN will take place from 2 to 6 November in Barcelona and will be attended by more than 4,000 delegates from over 170 countries.
The Barcelona session will be key to progress on technical questions. The aim is for countries to reach a common understanding on all the proposals that will be on the negotiating table in Copenhagen.
Spanish Minister of State for Climate Change, Teresa Ribera, thanked the UN for choosing Barcelona as the venue for the final session before the Copenhagen Summit, in recognition of Spain's efforts to move the negotiations towards a multilateral agreement on climate change.
